Louisville, KY · Opened May 2026

Camp Taylor Memorial Park Pool

$6.2 million ARPA-funded waterpark. W Principles lists construction complete in November 2025. The pool opened to the public on May 23, 2026.

Camp Taylor Memorial Park’s pool had been closed since 2019. Louisville replaced it with a new waterpark at 4201 Lee Avenue: an ADA zero-depth entry, lap lanes, a water slide, a children’s play area, shaded seating, and a pool house with restrooms, showers, and lockers. The project was funded with $6.2 million in ARPA money.

I was the site superintendent for W Principles, LLC. The city had planned to open for the 2025 season. Severe weather delayed the work, and the waterpark opened to the public on May 23, 2026. W Principles lists construction complete in November 2025.

What the job involved

01

The opening moved a year

In April 2025, WAVE 3 reported that Mayor Greenberg said the pool would not reopen until summer 2026. WDRB reported in November 2025 that construction delays had pushed the opening to the next Memorial Day weekend. The Courier Journal tied the missed 2025 season to severe weather.

02

A new outdoor waterpark

The finished facility is an outdoor pool, not a renovation of the old basin in place. City descriptions of the opening list the zero-depth entry, lap lanes, slide, play area with a small slide and dump bucket, a water basketball hoop, and a climbing wall. W Principles also lists shaded seating and a renovated pool house.

ARPA paperwork alongside the field work

ARPA funding adds reporting on top of a normal commercial job. Owner, city, and federal paperwork ran in parallel with the construction.
